Seems like kind of an odd layout for garage doors, but I guess when you’re spending $9.99M on a house anything is possible
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

I’ve always wanted a garage with bay doors on both ends. One bay at the front for clean road cars, and one at the back for dirty off road cars/field bombers.

Bit odd, but I like it.

This makes perfect sense actually. Drive one car in through one door. Another through the other door. No need for re-positioning car once its inside. Cars will be at 90 degrees to each other. Easy peasy. I love it

Makes decent sense to me, actually. And probably looks better than two double-wide doors right next to each other. 20' x 40 ' total area, or a little bigger?

This is not as weird as my dream garage layout.

Wondering what the bench is for. Perhaps to watch the festivities when two cars come in through opposing doors?

Seems ok. A big wall of garage doors is going to be pretty ugly from the outside.

I’m guessing just to sit and look at the cars that sit in the garage of a 10 million dollar house.
edit I typed 1 million , changed to 10 million.

I like the place, and if I had the money to spare I might pick it up, although I’d rather be on the ocean side of the peninsula instead of the bay side. However, it’s just a short walk, so I guess I could deal with that if I was forced . I would prefer t o hear the sound of the waves crashing right in my back yard, and hitting the surf without carrying my board across the street would be nice...

I was wondering about that. In this neighborhood a $1M house is a tear-down (or a 1 bd condo). He ll, one of my favorites in that area, an old house with a couple of lots across the drive with a large lawn, garage and a guest house (or servants quarters) was a complete tear-down and they were asking over $15M for the three properties.

It’s so you can get to the cars at the back without having to move the ones at the front.

How else are you going to drift in and out of your garage?

I’d save myself 9mill and buy this place instead. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/6625-147th-Ave-Holland-MI-49423/74590298_zpid/ Still a massive ga rage.
If I was rich and wanted to shit in a different bathroom every day of the week I’d go with this one. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/20-Peppers-Trl-Montague-MI-49437/24264730_zpid/

It’s a $10 designer home. I don’t think the placement of the garage doors make any difference.

For a corner garage, it makes a lot of sense - this way you can get each car out individually without having to shuffle the ones in front to get the ones in back.
Which takes me back to when I was still living at home - five drivers in the house, six cars, you’d have to move two cars out of the driveway to get one out of the garage, and my brothers were terrible at keeping track of their keys.

The house overall is so-so and not really worth the asking price IMHO. I like some of the details (lots of glass, wood on the ceilings), but I’d rather have a vintage MCM place, preferably un molested by ill-advised updates.
Too many places in that area have been torn down and replaced by homes in hideous faux Tuscan or French country style, styles that the nouveau riche seem to think look like what old money looks like. That might be fine in an area where there is lots of open land to build a 7,000 s q ft manor, but in a smallish house on the beach in Southern California it just comes off looking like a bad parody. Even most of the homes in the modern style don’t seem all that timeless and will look horribly dated in short order and will probably be torn down by the next owner in a few years, a lifespan shorter than the average hotel on the Vegas strip.

Those are some nice places, as are many in that area. I spent some time poking around the neighborhood and was quite impressed. However, being from SoCal I’d probably moved back there if I had 7-8 figures to spend on a house just because it’s familiar to me. There or Hawaii. If I were to buy a place to retire to I'd want to get as far away from snow as I could...

I enjoy the snow. Plus I don’t like swimming in the ocean makes you feel all sticky.
That one place has been for sale for a while, I wonder if they’d trade for 4 old BMW s
